Considering this was the darkest hagelslag I can find on Amazon at the time, I figured I can give this a try and patronize the Netherlands. The sprinkles in this box are huge (about 10-20 times the size of a regular sized hagelslag), which can explain why the spout is different compared to the traditional spout. It took some practice and a different way to hold the box to aim those extra large sprinkles. This tastes like a nice transition between milk and very dark chocolate and has a nice, smooth dark taste to it. At the same time, I noticed it was very sweet, even too sweet, for the cocoa solids it has. However, this seems common for certain makers of extra dark chocolate, who would add more sugar than it needs.Nevertheless, this was a good choice from the many De Ruijter hagelslags available. Until the darker hagelslags are available, or if the darkest one out there gets more reasonably priced, I recommend getting a big block of Callebaut chocolate and use a rotary cheese grater for your sprinkles. You'll get more great chocolate for the price and it wouldn't be too sweet! Also, I noticed one of the last ingredients on this list is fractionated milk solids. Just to let you know if you can't handle dairy.Use these as toppings in baking or on treats, but the smaller, standard sized sprinkles work better on ice cream….Used on Applesauce and yogurtA beloved favorite of our family. This is no Hershey Kiss chocolate, it's a good dark chocolate.
